Alive and Dead in Indiana

Title: Alive and Dead in Indiana
Author: Michael Martone

A friend said "they're funny and touching, i think, and the metaphorical constructs are intricate, even delicate. the play between midwestern obscurity and down-to-earthness and overweening fame/notoriety is strange and hilarious." But I can't see it. The stories are different and weird so if you want something new and different try these stories.

Rubicon: A Novel of Ancient Rome

Title: Rubicon: A Novel of Ancient Rome
Author: Steven Saylor

Your thoughts:
I really enjoyed this book. I love mysteries and historical novels. Although this author is new to me, I found his easy to read. Pompey asks Gordianus the Finder to find the murderer of one of Pompey's slaves. Pompey takes Gordianus' son-in-law into his army to ensure that Gordianus will solve the case. This was great! Gordianus meets up with Marc Antony, Caesar and Cicero as he travels through Italy. This would be great to ILL!
